"A dense, urban residential neighborhood is the context for this single-family, three-story house. The site is a 10 x 17-meter slot of space sharing party walls with its neighbors; the short end of one of the continuous facades creates the defined street wall typical of this townhouse neighborhood. Jacaranda trees form a vault spanning the length of the street.

The architectural response to the project came from the orientation and size of the lot. The site is divided in two along its longitudinal axis: a living block and an outdoor patio with an east-west orientation. Inserted between a high party wall and the interior facade, the patio space provides southern exposure to the house as well as privacy from the street and neighboring houses.

The principal living, dining, and patio spaces are located on the middle floor and connect to the bedrooms above and library below via a stair core at the rear of the house. The ground floor also contains the entry, garage, laundry, and service bedrooms. The roof of the house also serves as a deck."
